Brahma, pleased by his devotion blessed him with a daughter, Lopamundra. In due course of time Agasthya was attracted by the divine beauty of Lopamundra and expressed his desire to marry her. She agreed to marry him on the condition that she should never be left alone.
One day Agasthya went to have bath in the holy river Kannike, which led to their separation as Lopamudra was separated on the other side of Bramagiri hill. Lopamudra was left alone and immediately converted herself into a river and began to flow as River Cauvery for the benefit of humanity.
After reaching the source of Cauvery, many people venture to climb about 300 feet to the summit of the Brahmagiri peak where, It is said the seven sages meditated.
