Kolar town, Kolar.

There are 2 very nice temples in Kolar with several chola inscriptions dating back to 1000 AD. One is the famous Kolaramma temple. Once you reach Kolar you need to ask directions though it is a bit tricky. Are the images perceived symbols of fertility or abstract notions of paradise ?
It is off the main road on the right of the methodist church. Go further for a 100 metres from it you will see these spectacular temples.
Close to the Kolaramma temple is the exquisitely and ornate temple of Someshwara. Do not miss this temple. The kalyana mandapa is the best and is known for the intricate workmanship in granite. Beautiful and simply original. The pillars have lion brackets. The ASI is doing a good job restoring it. But who will restore the town and the garbage surrounding the temple ?
About 3-4 km from Kolar is Antaragange. Check out the spring water that brings a tinge in your mouth.
